SHE'S GOT A PLAN

Directors:  Fatima Washington & Sunspot Jonz

Screenwriter:  Sunspot Jonz

Genre:  Dramedy- Indie

Length:  Feature Short

In the tradition of Robert Townsend's Hollywood Shuffle  “She's Got a Plan" is a groundbreaking film satirizing Hollywood vs. real life.  The story opens with Isis Angelo, an aspiring writer-director who is beginning to realize that her dreams just may never come true. Isis has no career, no man, no money, and she's at the end of her proverbial rope.  We see Isis Angelo struggle to make her mark in Hollywood while trying to stay honest to the bigger picture: her life. The result is hilarious, poignant film that tows the intersection of love, class, and culture in America, and the byproduct thereof that is Hollywood.  The cast includes:  Fatima Washington (who also co-directs), Paula Jai Parker Faizon Love, Golden Brooks, Ja’net Dubois, Charles Malik Whitfield and Kelitta Smith.

THE Daddy Box

Director:  Fatima Washington

Screenwriter:  Fatima Washington

Genre:  Documentary

THE DADDY BOX chronicles the filmmakers intense, personal search to find the Moroccan father who linked her to a culture that he never stayed around to explain, the film takes us on a journey from Oakland, CA to Casablanca, Morocco and finally to Buford, GA, where Fatima finds her father living on a small houseboat.

Born from Fatima’s experiences growing up alone in an African American family with siblings and a mother that she barely resembled, the beauty of THE DADDY BOX is its unique narrative.  Breaking from traditional story-telling, Fatima takes a risk by creating different personas to manifest the voices within her head: The Director, A Veiled Moroccan Woman, The Life Coach/Therapist and Herself as a Child.  In the vein of her hero, Bergman, Fatima plays with what is real versus what is perceived, allowing the personas to interact with her in the film.  These created characters, which Fatima also plays (with the exception of The Child), interact with “the real Fatima” to express her desires and fears and to assist/resist her in her quest.

THE DADDY BOX, Fatima hopes “her voice” will reach all of the children still waiting for their fathers to come home and all of the “adult children” trying to make sense of their abandonment.
